Within a few days of when Dick Mann won the Daytona 200 on March 15th, 1970 I bought Ruby, a new 1970 CB750 from John Larabee at Manchester Honda in Manchester, CT for $1395 with a free helmet. About 3 weeks later it came in.  Although I originally wanted the gold version, when I saw Ruby Red I fell in love.

The love dimmed somewhat and after two years I had put on 11,000 miles - I was ready for a new bike. I sold Ruby to a friend and bought a new modified (four into on, one piece fiberglass tank and seat) 1972K2. But the love affair was not the same for the two years that I had that bike.

For most of the next 42 years I regretted selling Ruby. Now at the age of almost 66 I bought a restoration project. I will be restoring a 1970K and hoping to recreate the original 1970 Ruby Red CB750.

It isn't home yet - Ruby is in a friends garage. But I will be bringing it home soon - I guess I'll have to tell my wife. I've always found that it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Welcome Dick from another aged and seasoned CB750 guy with the same obsession as the other sickos on this forum. There is no hope for us. :) One thing you will learn is we really like pics here. Get some on when you get Ruby home. You will find a bunch of great people here willing to share info and help you along. If you need to find an original part chances are someone here has it. I agree with you...that ruby red is a great color, but that gold and blue green has me hooked too.

Hey DickL, your story sounds familiar. Did close to the same here! Missus still jabs me every time it needs a part. Some times ya just gotta do it
