NAPA here in my town had.....orange. When I asked why no other colors the guy behind the counter with the camo hat with the overly bent bill said, "Why? Cuz Merica son." I told him I was working on a Japanese motorcycle. He just spit in a bottle.

The Autozone located on the other side of town which I can walk to in 5 minutes, however, had every color in the VHT catalog.

Ok, ok!  Was out of town last weekend so not much got done.

I did have the unicorn powdercoated, nothin like fresh powder!

And had the gauges rebuilt by Marcel, he did an incredible job!
It was a barter deal, I sent him a box of old gauges, he kept a few, rebuilt these and sent em back. I chose to keep the mileage as opposed to having it reset to 0.

Stev-O have you had issues with the bars finding a proper ground through those powder coated mounting bosses? I'd consider removing the covering only there so the bars are in contact with bare aluminum.

Just an observation-

They really are.  I've always been a sucker for nice gauges.
And since I didnt pay, that makes it all the much sweeter!
I've been collecting parts for the K1, it will be restored this Fall.

Stev-O have you had issues with the bars finding a proper ground through those powder coated mounting bosses?

Yeah, he missed taping off the boss, he did it on the other triple I had coated.
It's easy enough to remove  the powder with my Dremel, thx for mentioning it.

Stev-o,
I've been so busy working the past 2 months that I haven't had much time to ride, let alone come onto the site.  But I finally got a chance to catch up on this thread today...outstanding work!  The bike is looking really good!

However, I'll be the first to say that I really don't think that fairing looks proper on that bike.  As a matter of fact, I'm worried you'll be the laughing stock of the town if you use it.  But here in Atlanta, people like those kinds of things.  So I would be more than willing to take it off your hands so that the cool kids don't make fun of you!
Purely because I'm thinking of you first, of course.
;D

Seriously though...epic build thread.  Well done.

Yeah, it does make it easy.  I've got access to any kind of abrasive blasting you can think of at work.  Got my own mig welder.  There's a booth at work, but it's dirty and it's a hassle dragging all my stuff up there.  I just open up the back door to my shop and hope the mosquitos stay away.  Did you see my tank?  I painted it on Saturday.

Yup... I was kidding, but apparently forgot the wink emoji.

What I do know is that 90+ degree temps and 126% humidity is expected in your neighborhood very soon. Just sayin'!

Those gauges are unbelievable! I'm sure it's been said on here, but does Marcel reuse the old glass, or use something better than original that maybe has some uv protection for the faces?
