Looking great!

If you were to mask a 1/16" above and below the paint edge on the filler neck and swipe a thin amount of JB Weld over the paint line and then immediately remove the tape before it dries, you will have a permanent seal.  The fumes will never get under that edge.  I've done that many, many times with great success.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did this and it was pretty basic. I'm looking at it as cheap insurance that I hope I'll never need.

So, once the JB Weld was thoroughly dry, I replaced the gas cap and lock, ran the fuel lines, installed the tank and seat.

After a few bumps to the starter, she roared to life! I could not resist to take her for the first ride since I bought it, about 3 years ago!   She did not run great but was able to take me around the block. There is nothing that can make you happier that a running engine after a rebuild.

I bought these carbs from BranDen, they are set up for a stock bike, so obviously I need to do some jetting now.  Here is how she sits...

About this time, I was interrupted with a delivery to my house....

I helped my buddy buy this '68 Corvette for the classic car collection he is putting together.  He is out of town so I was more that willing to accept delivery and give it multiple test rides!  It runs fantastic, needs no jetting so it was a no-brainer on which one to take out!!

Very nice!  Can't wait to see it in person!  You are taking it to Harvest, right?

Thanks for all the comments, guys.

Joe - although is is close, it is doubtful to be 100% by the 21st for the Harvest Classic bike show.  Still need to test & tune and fit the fairing. When I tried mocking it up, the master cylinder seemed to be in the way.  I may need to change handlebars?

Put it on the trailer and stick it in the show.  You can ride the 550 or the Z1 when we cruise around on Sat.

Really nice job on the bike, Stev-o.  She's a beauty!

That Vette is hideous.  If I were you, I'd be ashamed to have it at my house.  Because I'm such a swell guy, I'll be glad to come bring it back to my house.  I'll hide it inside a garage so nobody has to see that ugly thing. :)

Hmmm...I think you may have tried to use this little ruse before Ron... ;D

That's turned out lovely mate, well done!

Steve, how big are those tank badges? For me, it's the paint job that really makes it pop. I kind of like the way it looks just as it is. IIWM, if I was going to badge it, I think I'd go with something small and subtle - maybe Honda wings in black vinyl? If anyone looking at it doesn't know it's a Honda, then they shouldn't be looking at it in the first place!

Yeah,What about it Stev-o ?

Sorry, no update guys.  Just got back in town last night from Florida.  Was visiting family for Thanksgiving and spent a couple days on my brother's boat.

In addition to that, the previous 6 weeks have been hectic. There were two weekends where family came to visit us, travel to San Antonio for a wedding and a vacation to Belize.

That said, I have nothing on the calendar for the next couple weeks and plan to finish this bike by years end!

Yes, been havin' a lot of fun, it's just mostly been non-bike related though. Can post pics if anyone is interested.

I posted up a quickie review of the Hagons on the rear of my CB.  They work great.  I know you had been waiting to hear how I liked them.

Now let's see the preoccupation!

Isn't that a Henry Abe air cleaner? If it's good, that's a $300 part right there. Those were rare even in the 70's!

I have! Where?  End up buying Ikons, though.

Yes it is, bought on ebay quite awhile ago. The bike came with one so thought I would keep it as long as I dont have trouble tuning. Otherwise, I have a stock airbox ready to go on.

Yes, busy! But this bike should have been done by now!
BTW - those are your side covers on there, Frankie. Thanks again.

Having both IKON and Hagon on my bikes, I can say that both are a good value.  The IKONS are superior, but cost about $200 more.

Unsure what model you have, but buying Ikon's from Nils should be much more affordable.
