KONI shock internals
« on: November 11, 2006, 12:33:17 PM »
Would anyone out there have a diagram of the internal parts of a 1296(?) Koni to fit a k5 750? I took one apart a while back, and can't remember the sequence and orientation of the guts. Also, what kind of fluid to put back in and how much? Is automatic transmission fluid ok? Fork oil? I could dis-assemble the other shock to see how things go, but would rather have parts diagram to be safe. Thanks in advance. jim

do a search on Koni's. I run them on my cars and have found a lot of info.
on rebuild etc... as best I remember I went to Koni's site and they had
diagrams. Hope this helps.

what is the shock number. Should be on the side somewhere. I'll see what I can find.

7610-1296 is the part number for the rear shock for a 750 k model. Again, thanks for any info.

Try this, scroll down and you'll see the 76 series listed. I'm not sure they have a schematic for parts but you may be able to
contact them for it.

As to oil, Koni uses a secret oil, though I know of different oils being used
to stiffen the shock a bit. You could experiment but if you don't want it to stiff
just go with the fork oil and you should be ok. (My 2 cents on that).

Hop on a Honda
