Howdy Rowdies  :D

Last weekend my son and I rescued a '75 CB550K that had been sitting in a back yard for several years.   Should be a fun project, will probably need a full restoration.  Only the front wheel currently turns - every other reciprocating part is froze up including the throttle.  But that's the bad news, it is complete and only has 4K miles on it.  It also came with another set of carbs.

We will have a lot of fun working on the bike and planning it's future.  I'm sure we will have lots of questions for you all.   Our first one is...  is there any way to tell what color it was originally ?   It has an aftermarket tank painted dark green now and no badges at all.    I know the choices are Candy Jade Green (my preference) and Flake Sunrise Orange (my sons preference)  - so you see we need to know what color the bike wants to be.

Is there any chance the background color of the VIN tag is a clue?  Ours is sort of brown.

Thanks and thanks for having us.

VIN does not include any color codes. Paint it the color you wish. You might find hints of the original color beneath the side covers or tank.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
