CB 350 Four Cam Chain Tensioner Push Bar
« on: May 30, 2005, 02:06:45 AM »
My CB 350 Four Cam Chain Tensioner Push Bar is mounted without the rubber-like anti-vibration thing
on the end of the tensioner push bar. How bad is this, and how should I now adjust the cam chain?
I did it the normal way, but I think it rattles a little ...

Thanks!

greetings,

If you mean the part marked in the photo, then the spring's may not be long enough an have the force too work proplerly!, the system is crap at the best of time's, more so if parts are missing then it's going to be a really crap system!

#$%* :)

The part you point out is missing, yes... Will an experienced sohc mechanic be able to
tell me by the sound of the engine if the chain is too loose or tight?

I suppose its a little loose due to the missing length of the push bar.

This is one of those things you don't ignore & hope it will go away.  Previous posted comments on the fraility of the design are correct.  Beg, borrow or steal.(but not from my motors), the missing parts & fix it right or sell the bike before it gets worse.

I’m really curious why you put a broken part back in an engine during a rebuild  ??? You can’t tell from the outside that part is missing so you must have fitted it, and that was just plain crazy! Because to fix it you need to take the engine apart again.

Dave  ???

My part list is of such a bad quality, so I did not spot the problem before having the bike on the road :( The push bar was missing the
rubber tip in the first place, but I have now bought a new on ebay. A #$%* load of of extra work :)
