Found the up side of the crapy tensioner
« on: April 07, 2016, 04:48:56 PM »
So today I was watching the hackaweak video on putting the cam holders on and he was talking about these little "oil jets" and for some reason I got sick to my stomach thinking I don't remember those or ever reading about installing them from my books! And sure enough when I got home and Checked they aren't there!!!! So now I'm like thank goodness this stupid tensioner needed replaced..... But I'm also like where the f did they go and how can I buy some..?? Any ideas? And no I can't make any. Guessing the  Machine shop that serviced the top end lost them while cleaning it.

Yeah, good that you caught that.  Much better to tear down to replace a crappy tensioner than to replace the whole valve train.  Don't forget the 6x2mm o-rings also, 2 around the oil jets and 2 under the outside ends of the cam towers.  A couple guys on here have made the jets on a lathe.  Do some searching and sweet talk 'em if you can't find replacements.  Might have to be real sweet, as apparently, they are a pain to make.
If it works good, it looks good...

Yeah thanks for the info guys. Seems strange that Honda still makes all kinds of other parts for these engines but not a little oil jet. Guess I'll have to tear apart my garage in hopes that magic happenens.... Or I'll just start sweet talking some folks.... You know who you are  ;)
