It wasn't a direct reflection on Wilbur, I simply used his bike and mine as examples of different styles of bikes.

No worries, that's the way I read it. Good discussion all around. All constructive input is welcome! 8)

trying to be consistent in the 60' because your mind isn't clouded by thought of the bike wheeling

I found the wheeling to be quite a thrill!   ;D

He's not just there to have fun with the guys at this juncture. The fact that he installed the 836 kit in this engine and is building another motor verifies his seriousness in doing well.

Hey, I can have fun while doing it!  ;D

I do plan to lower and stiffen the front, while extending and lowering the rear. Might have to sacrifice some wheelies for consistency... damn it!  :o  ;)

This will be a season of refinement and development.  8)

Lower the forks at the track, then move them down again for the ride home..

Check how high stock forks are above the triple tree.

Hold up guys, I think you're missing the whole point of the post.
I think anyone that misunderstood it, missed the incredible insight and value from a "voice of experience". Its not often that those who compete, willingly share good, simple advice on how to improve. And all the points you make could make serious differences in anyone's racing. I think you're a helluva nice guy for posting that actually (as if my opinion even counts). But I bet I'm not alone in my opinion of that post.

As Wilbur said much earlier, it wasn't his wallet in his front pocket... That is a clear admission of a newfound addiction  :D Spare the Viagra, spoil the Tree! eh, Wilbur?

I understood it clearly because I had the same issues with my F2 when I had it at the drag strip for the first time last year, my dismal ET's were mainly a result of my inexperience because up to that time I had never launched the bike hard from a standing stop so trying to find the right rpm to launch and how to properly release the clutch to avoid a wheelie or bog was all new to me ...... not to mention getting my feet back on the pegs quick enough to be ready for 2nd gear. After my drag strip adventure I did find some issues with the bike for example just for kicks I installed new clamps for the intake boots, I swear I had checked for vacuum leaks before and all seemed OK but the engine obviously did have a vac leak somewhere because simply installing those new clamps made a world of difference on how the engine runs and behaves and has essentially made the engine more predictable at launch which as Frank pointed out gives me the rider the ability to focus more on my launch technique.

Hey Leroy, waiting for the thaw out from the recent and hopefully last blizzard. Last brief moment of firing it up I heard a dreaded squeal and had some weird bucking. I installed the chain and could then tighten the clutch nut but broke the damn lifter plate. Gotta check the lightened rotor to make sure it's tight too. Need to eliminate those 2 possibilities first. Probably a good thing I installed the frame kit!! Then back to the 900. Torquer vs high rpm HP. Gonna be fun to see how they dyno out and which wins out.

What about you?

Need a light weight trailer for the Vettes too. Maybe we can get a deal on trailers and hitches. 2 pack. Have you ever looked into it?

Plus you already have Medicare. I can start shopping in 2 weeks.

Ain't no way I'm putting a trailer on the back of my Vette. Maybe a trailer on the back of a big diesel truck big enough for the bikes AND the Vette. Gotta have a ride for dinner!  ;)  ;D  8)

No man, just a single bike collapsible trailer with a small tool box under the glass. What else should a racer need!?

I've been to a few vintage road race events in the last 2 years, and I have seen everything from little more than a bike in the back of a rusted out pickup with a few cans of gas and a toolbox(plus a case of beer and weed), to a million dollar Provost bus conversion pulling a huge enclosed trailer with enough gear on hand to build several spare bikes.

I'm glad you could make it down, I enjoyed bench racing with you while we waited. All are welcome. The rev limiter is definitely on the list of "must have in place" before the next race.  :)

"Next Round Café"... that has a nice ring to it, might have to have a sign made up.  8)  As long as that doesn't turn me into a café racer!  :o  ;)
