1972 CB500 Cafe Racer
« on: April 07, 2016, 10:25:35 PM »
I have been restoring and fixing motorcycles for 5 years now. My first motorcycle was a 1981 Cb750C; that I still own. I have had a few superbikes including a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX600P and a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250. The 250 was not a superbike, but I rebuild the head on it, and replaced the head gasket when the previous owner blew it out. Recently, I was able to buy a 1972 Honda CB500 that has already been transformed into a pretty awesome café racer. I included the buildup of the motorcycle in the pictures and the finished product speaks for itself. It has been fully gone through from electrical, ignition, body work, and motor work. I believe it has a competition cam installed, but I have not been able to verify. The sole problem when I bought the motorcycle was the carbs on the right side leaked, but I was able to clean them in about 40 minutes and it has been running perfectly since. I still need to replace the petcock on the right side because it continually leaks, and is what caused the carbs to gunk up on that side. I will also be getting a nice paint job on the bike in the future. I have not decided on a color as of yet; any ideas?
