Both the Katana and Pacific Coast also went over but were picked up by the time I got home.

The PC fared the worst: broken mirror,  side cover , windshield, bracket.  The red Katana only had a broken mirror.  The customer's blue Suzuki has a smashed tank, broken switch and lever. There was a 550 that went over but survived intact.  Notice Red Ryder at the end stayed upright.  Gonna cost me a bunch to fix the customer's Suzi; no insurance coverage for this minor catastrophe.  My agent says I am not responsible because it is considered an act of God but the right thing to do is repair his bike at my cost.  Oh well :'( :'( :'(

You ain't kidding for sure.  It looks like the almost 600lb. Katana went over, then the rest dominoed.

Sorry to see that. And they were under cover too. What more could you have done ? Cable them to the driveway?
Act of God? Hope not, why would he do anything like that to any of us? I know ...insurance talk. There isn't anything you could have done without seeing the future. That just sucks.
We had some wind up in NY. We heard it was 50-60mph , then today we find out on the news it was 70-80 mph.
I didn't have any cycle type damage, but it did start to lift the theater's standing seam roof... looks repairable from the ground , will find out tomorrow when I get up there.
I hope this is the last picture of bikes on their side at your house. Sorry that happened to you.

Thanks, actually the PC was blown over a couple weeks ago but did not suffer any damage, then the 400 fell off the lift, now this.  So this is the third occurrence .   Whatsup????

Seems like a gravitational interruption at your house for sure, either that or these bikes have developed a severe magnetic pull on the throttle side to the earth.
Whatever it is, 3rd time is always the charm. It'll probably never happen to you again.

Ouch!, sorry to see those sad pics, MoMo!

From what you say about previous spills from wind and these pics it looks like you may have a wind-tunnel effect under the overhang. I've had to remedy a few situations like that for a few customers. Might want to think about putting up some type of barrier at one or both ends to break up the wind flow. Even some lattice would help.

MoMo,  Sorry to see the damage... It bites when we are stung by Mother Nature, or some evil person who inflicts the damage.  I hope it is over and no more bad motorcycle stuff happens for a long time.  It looks like Red Ryder was spared.
The damage is pretty bad to the blue bike... That one stings the worst...

Maybe time to install some outer walls to protect the bikes and tie down tethers like the airplane guys use to keep'em upright...

Hopefully you can score some parts for the Suzuki and PC cheaply...

My son and I are contemplating some sort of wind break. Either a wall or park a vehicle to block the wind that comes from the west.  All bikes were on side stands except for Red Ryder,   all now on center. I could park them lengthwise but that'd make entrance and egress difficult-I'd have to move every bike every time I needed to get a bike in and out of the shop. I have a feeling wind blew the trash can into the red Katana and that caused it to go over, the rest followed. There is a mark on the left side of the Katana that was not there before.     Not sure how well tie down tethers would work in blacktop David...Larry

Dammit Larry. That sucks.

It's an act of god for your insurance guy if wind actually did that but I doubt you'd get by with claiming that since they were in your possession. You're a good guy to do the right thing.

   Idea #1
Is there enough free wall space where you can anchor tie downs into the lower part of the exterior wall? Nose the bikes to the wall front tire first and tie down the bars?
   Idea #2
Could alter an old bicycle parking rack (old  school metal pipe kind). take every other upright out. Park nose first both sides . tie bars down to the center rail.  Can also be locked up there.   added idea: Pipe foam the upright pipes ...so's not to scratch the front end.

Just a couple off the cuff ,quick ideas.

These are a little expensive,60 bucks, but maybe a couple of these chocks around to use for customer bikes  http://www.harborfreight.com/1800-lb-capacity-motorcycle-standwheel-chock-61670.html

Thanks for the ideas guys.  The chock looks good and even has tie downs. I think if the bikes were always on a center stand the problem would be eliminated.  But.....................................I can easily put a 750 up but the Katana can be tough, even tougher is that 600 cc blue Suzi as it does not have anything in the rear for leverage.  Of course, it will be gone once I get it fixed.

This #$%* sucks...I once had a very large branch from a veryy very large maple tree fall on my cb750, smashed the speedometer.  Fixed it and then someone backed into it, knocked it over a week later.  Smashed the new speedometer.  I waited a year before I got another speedometer.
If it works good, it looks good...

Wish my garage was big enough for all 6 of my bikes.

Sorry to hear about the wind damage, but I think you'll come up with something. If the trashcan smashed into one bike, then you definitely need a strong windbreak. I wouldn't use my truck, as it might get hit by the trashcan.

good luck

If you were going to tether them then putting a concrete strip in to mount the anchors would be the best way to do it. At on company I worked for they replaced the asphalt with concrete pads to keep kickstands from melting into the pavement. Not sure it was after an incident or before.

Seems like you could put a cable or tie down up to a ceiling joist or  rafter and pull It down and hook the bike where it might tip a bit but not fall.

Finally got the tank back for the Suzuki that was shown in the first post.  Set me back 250,  add right switch and lever and it'll wind up costing me 350 to fix the wind damage..  Guess, it could have been worse-like all the plastic could have broken.  Hopefully it will be done(that is if it starts again) by this weekend.  It will be kept in the shop until picked up

Back together and finished, started up every time. It would decide not to start on a whim before.  I think the new r/h switch I installed to replace the broken from fall one was the  starting culprit.   Now just have to get it back to the owner before another catastrophe sets in.  Cost 350 and a couple days work.

I was towing my first K0 behind a wheel lift truck all went well until we went up the driveway and the left strap broke, I threw my leg under the wrinkle tank and saved it. I was healed in a day or 2.
