K0 Idle speed help needed
« on: April 09, 2016, 05:11:28 AM »
Long story short.  I recently pulled my carbs to set the float bole height.  I was then planning on doing a manometer synch.
The problem is the idle speed is way to high when I take the bike off choke.
I need a way to lower the idle so I can do the synch.
What roll do the brass fittings on top of the carbs and the adjustment at the grip play?

Any advise is welcome.   ;D

1. The slides are left and right handed. Make sure the correct side slides are in the correct carbs.
2. The slides should be resting on the idle screws in each carb. If they are, back your idle screws out.
3. There should be slack in the cables at the brass fittings and slack in the grip play when the slides are all the way down.

Using a good manometer as you mentioned is the most accurate way to sync your carbs IMHO.
You basically have 2 synchronizations - the idle screws at idle and cable adjustment at each carb top for throttle pull.
Make sure there is slack in all the cables and sync the idle with the idle screws.
Then pull the throttle open a bit to sync the cables at the carb tops with the brass fittings.
At that point, you can remove most of the slack, but not all, out of the grip adjuster.
Also, make sure your cables are lubricated real good and move freely.
Oh, almost forgot to mention the intake rubbers need to seal real good between the carbs and head. If they are old and hard, get some new ones.
