78 cb550 not worth as much?

Is there something wrong with the 78 model of cb550? I have seen this year sell for a lot less than other years...

Nothing wrong with the '78's at all. Great bikes. There are a few cosmetic differences from other years, but mechanically they are mostly the same. When your dealing with classic bikes, cars, guns, guitars - anything at all really, the older it is the more desirable - and therefore valuable it becomes.

Most of the cosmetic "different" parts, like the exhausts, are no longer available so its more difficult to "restore" to its former glory---having said that still ride as good so for use every day probably a better bike.

Yes, as for parts no longer being available - the same can be said about an increasing number of parts for ALL of the SOHC's, so don't let that deter you. That's what makes classic machines unique!

Lower price may be due to the "emissions" carburators. Other than that ... no reason they should demand less $$$
