According to this Video:

There was a 1974 cb550 freedom green metallic bike, I've never seen this bike anywhere. Is this accurate? If so, is it a very rare model?

According to the video there is a 1977 cb550 K3 Excel black and a 1978 cb550 K4 Excel black

It looks like the 1978 is black with an orangey red stripe on the tank. The 1977 looks like it has just a red stripe. Can anyone confirm this?

Now the real question is. Does anyone have or know of a place or person that has a 1974 cb550 freedom green metallic bike for sale ( if it exists)

the 78 k modell have the red stripe..and thin gold auter/inner ring..

So maybe that video is wrong because your tank has a brown color with the red stripe the video says excell black and has a red stripe . Hm..

think the Black tank have the same type stripes..but are not shure..most i have seen are repainted...and never seen one from nev in denmark

But is there a 77 with a black tank and red stripe?

I don't think I would trust that video - it is just a collection of pics off the net - some of the colors are incorrectly named and a lot of the pics are of repainted unoriginal bikes that only vaguely resemble the original color!

Thats a 77 tank.

78's came in black with orange/gold pinstripe. And candy alpha red (maroon) with blue/gold pinstripe

Right so there is no black tank with red stripe just brown tank with red stripe and black with orangey stripe .

That cb550 with the blue. I have yet to see that anywhere

then i got the vrong tank....mine is a 78...i better like the 77 seat..so think i just call mine for a 77 fom now

Ah very nice! I should have been more specific, I have never seen a blue cb550 that's not a cb550k I think the color scheme is freedom green metallic

Year does'nt mean anything. It's an American marketing thing. With engine- and framenumber you can determine whether it's a K3 or K4. The stepped seat and the blue line is found only on a CB550K4.

Agreed, the CB550K3 seat offered me (pretty tall) the best riding position of all, although it's a bit too soft for my taste.

yes first registration can be(+ -)one year..k3 and k4 use the same engine spec..so have no problem..
