The original clutch set up worked fine and they shifted fine too. They just got rattley/noisy with some miles. The new set up is really smooth and quiet on mine but I also did some under-cutting of gears too at the same time but lets not go there for our discussion. I have put 130 easy break-in miles only and have other problems engine-wise so I parked it.

My #2 has an old stock set up in it and it has NO miles. I want to see how it does and then decide to do the field fix upgrade.

There were seven (identical) steel plates, along with eight friction plates, leading us to believe that someone may have installed an aftermarket "extra plate" kit at some point.

From the manual:




Gives the thickness of the friction disks, but not the steel plates. More research required to find the thickness of the steel plates.
