cheers nippon.

I think I've nearly done all I can (and want to) do at the moment. One more session in the garage tonight then I'll be polishing up the rest of the bike and putting the tank and side covers back on so I can ride it....! ;D

Engine tarting up done...for now.

Well I've had enough now and am fairly pleased with the way my "tarting up" has gone. Not concourse condition and not 100% clean but looking one heck of a lot better. I finished it off with the lacquer after all as even though I still have some traces of the original lacquer there I thought it's probably better to protect the exposed metal than to leave it bare. I now have to finish cleaning up and polishing the rest of the bike...

Darn nice job. When you have more time, some jewelers rouge and a buffing wheel will make those covers and heads shine.

You're making me miss my little red 350...
Did that cup come with beer in it?

Wish it had!!! Well at least it made my 10-12 hours of hard work worth it ( I know that's nothing compared to what's put in to restore one of these beauties..!!) Beat last years winner (1972 Laverda 750 twin) too... the guy who owned that one used to own a very nice Honda 450. Think he was a bit gutted that I showed up at this years rally!

I also met one of the previous UK owners of the bike and he was slobbering quite a lot over it - he'd never seen it cleaned up so well or with the 4-4 cans. ;D

Thanks for the advice on removing the engine discoloration guys... it obviously worked a treat.

Wow, Fantastic job on the bike!  You created a great thread here.  I am going to have to print this thread out as there was some great advice thrown out by everyone.   I think the most important part is remembering to take the "before" pics for the full effect.  Congrats on the cup!
