Old 500 in Alabama
« on: April 12, 2016, 10:15:48 AM »
Hello group,

My next door neighbor moved and gave me a 1971 Honda 500 that looks pretty good and a 1976 550 parts bike with several items missing.  I'm currently working on the 500 and have already replaced the coils and have the the carburetors on the bench attempting to overhaul them.

I've owned several Hondas through out the years beginning with a  Honda 50 in about 1966 and moving up the chain to 90, 350 and then a new 750 in 1969.  My last Honda was a Magna 750 about 15 years ago.

I'm looking forward to riding again when the 500 is running.  Now if I can just figure out how to get the emulsion tube out.  I hope the tech section will help.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
