I have a 75 CB550F and am trying to make the rearset brackets I purchased from Cognito Moto work.  The main problem I'm running into is that the swingarm/engine mount bolts are too short to mount the brackets.

Does anyone know where I can source longer bolts?

Thanks!

Chris

A bolt that long is going to be tough. Best bet is to make it. I have done all of my engine hanger bolts this way. Have a shop thread the ends of some steel or SS rod and weld a nut to one end making a long bolt.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

Thanks Slik and 754.  I was actually able to make it work.  I modified the bracket on the clutch side to allow the bolt seat deeper.  Gave me enough clearance to get the nuts threaded on.

Will you post up some pics of what you did? I'll eventually run into this as well if I can ever get my build started.

Yeah it's ez to get stainless or plain steel rod of any diameter and then have threads turned on the ends.  That's the solution I think.
I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.
