1978 CB750F SS - Wheel Buffing..
« on: November 14, 2006, 05:46:23 PM »
My rear rim has some nicks on it and needs sanded / buffed, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about this?  I would like to do something unique with the 78 SS rims and would appreciate any ideas.  I thought about buffing the rims and painting the rest black, but I'm not certain?  Don't have a visual just yet.

What is the widest tire size I can get for this bike  ???  I currently have 120/90-18, could I go to a 130 or 140?

I'm currently in the process of taking the rear rim off the tire and preparing the rims for sanding.  I can't get the center axle out of the rim, shouldn't this just push through?

I've not had this problem before and I wouldn't want to mess up any internal bearings or anything like that?  Well, I believe this is all I have for now?  Does anyone on this board live near Ft. Wayne Indiana?  Just curious..  Thanks all...

That's exactly what I want to do with my rims, but I wanted to get a visual first - thanks...  I hate to sound stupid, but I have no clue what "PM" means other then it's getting late  ???  It appears as though I'll be needing a nice polishing setep one day soon, I currently have nothing.  I'd like to polish my calipers also, did you put a protective coating over the polished rims?  Or the calipers?  Well, I'm headed to the basement to do some more work..  I'm anxious to hear your ideas about the tire size, but I need to figure out what IM means first - I've not caught up to technology yet  :)
