Topic: Anyone ever try one of these cheap-o Reg/Rectifiers from eBay?

It's WAYYYYY cheaper than the Rick's...  but is it a case of you get what you pay for or is it a case of somebody in Oregon is overcharging?

Because if this thing WORKS for $21, plug and play, reliably...  I see no reason anyone should ever mess with an old VR again.

I don't see why it would not work.  I ordered a generic one and this sucker is huge!  Has a massive heat sink which is good for operation, but kinda big.

Mine just showed up. It's about 2.5 times the size of the old rectifire and almost all heatsink.  No sort of instruction and the seller was less than helpful about if it grounded through the case so I will be running a ground from the loom to the case just to be sure

I also ordered some 8 pin waterproof conections so that I can rewire the plugs to 1 conection for easyer work and less mess

I've got Rick's on my bike and it works fine, but any rec/reg off a modern bike will probably work, when the rec/reg on my Suzuki GS1000 failed, the guy at the local motorcycle wrecker just pulled one off a late model Honda and told me how to wire it in, and it worked fine. Find a good used one off a brand name bike that looks like it'll fit, and just wire it in. Cheers, Terry.

 I bought one that looks similar for the 12 volt 360 stator on my CL100. So far so good.

I hooked mine up today for a test all lights came on nice and bright and stayed without the flicker they had with the old unit.  I used a water tight conection to rewire the plug

It is a 8 pin plug with the 2 for the regulator in there as well so one less thing to unplug if I need to weld just u plug the wires from the coil and the regulator rectifire plug and disconnect the battery all that's left is wire and light bulbs
