i'm also looking at just getting a engine and taking them off of that and having the engine for a later project. is it safe to assume that any motor from 69-75 would have the same type of "orifice"?

K3 or later.

K2 (at least the early K2's) had the old style.  They do come out as well - but they tend to get stuck in there.  Between two K2 heads I was able to extract two orifices (jets) without damaging them.  I couldn't get one out, and the other one my machinist got out but damaged it.

The terrain can be a bit rugged up there "North of the border"!  ;)  ;D

Glad it worked out. "Snail mail" can live up to its name every now and then...
