Dyna ignition help
« on: April 21, 2016, 10:13:17 AM »
Hey everyone, just a quick question. I've got a 74 cb750 and the previous owner installed a Dyna ignition. The thing is, I noticed on the original box that came with all the parts for the bike that its a ds1-1 for the smaller cb's. Now I haven't cracked the cover off to see if thats for sure whats in there, but I was wondering if it was possible that it could be, and if so what are the differences between the two?

As it stands the bike isn't running good. It is bored out to 850 (could be 836 but he said 850) and had pods on it. I took the pods off, put all new boots in front and in back of the carbs and put the original air box back in. I checked the air screws which were WAY out and not all the same...anywhere from 2 1/4- 2 3/4 out. I adjusted them back to one turn out, replaced the plugs and took it out for a short ride. It idols good but spits and sputters once it gets part way through a gear. Acts like its starved or something. I have been adressing one thing at a time and I plan on doing a carb sync as well, but noticed the box for the ignition and got really worried. I'm still a newbie so forgive me if any of this is wrong or seems really stupid...it could be!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!!!!

For your Dyna S question:

The plate is the same for all the CB kits.  The difference between motors is the advancer shaft.

CB350/CB400 uses 13.5mm inner diameter rotor

CB500/CB650/CB750 uses 15mm inner diameter rotor

I hope this helps.

Did you check the jetting? Could be really rich from the pods too. Putting the stock airbox on could change enough to make it run rough on throttle.
