Jet differences: new vs old ??
« on: April 23, 2016, 06:22:36 AM »
Hi all,

Rebuilding my carbs and got rebuild kit. The slow jets are much different than the old original jets. Shorter, thinner, smaller holes. See pics below.

I cleaned up old originals pretty well, (in ultrasonic cleaner) soaking etc so they are useable.

Which should I use? Why are new ones so much smaller?

use the original ones for all the jets and other brass parts, unless you really really need to change them (to adjust carburation or because the old ones are broken). lots of problems start with people replacing stuff from these rebuild kits just because they think new is better. usually it's not, the keihin stuff is best.
even a certain number aftermarket jet may not actually be the same size as the same number keihin and you may end up with your carburation being off.
