New pipe, new life
« on: May 13, 2005, 06:22:34 PM »
Bought a "used" Kerker pipe off the marketplace here, finaly hit the muffler shop today to fab a sleeve onto the stock header.  What a difference over stock!!! Easy breathing, nice exhaust note, magic!  I was considering a change to a newer Honda... not this year!  Now to move the old stock pipe off of my '78 CB750F.  You know, the big chrome shiney one?   Any interest?

Learning curve...When I removed the old pipe I took the mount off too.  You know, the one the center stand rests on to keep it off the chain.  Initially I thought the cam chain was coming apart.  Only took about 5 miles to figure it out.

I detached the mount from the old pipe and put it back on.  I'll fab something a touch more svelt with a bottom bumper next bench session.

I had the same problem when replacing my lacey stock 4-1 CB350F system with a 400F header & Supertrapp muffler.  I fabricated a stop by cutting 3/4" alloy angle stock long enough to reach from the muffler mount stud to the R/H foot of the centerstand.  Drilled a horizontal hole to take the muffler stud & a vertical hole in line with the stand to match one of those rubber pads that have the tit for mounting.  Cut away all the superfulous bracket leaving tabs at each end & rounded corners.  It is adjusted to allow the stand to sit a little higher to allow for more cornering clearance on left-handers.  It works & looks good.

Ok, but I have to learn how to use my new Sony digital camera.  The software that came with it has no tutorial but I have an older version of PhotoStudio but need to learn how to use it too.  Are there links in our FAQ's on how to post photos?
P.S. Time is a thief!

To post a photo you need a .jpg file on your PC which is a reasonable size.

To do this you need to load the picture from your camera and save it as "JPEG" and limit the size to about 300k. This gives good enough resolution for the site but doesn't consume too much disk space.

When you are posting, click on "Additional Options" and browse your PC to find the file.

The rest is automatic!

Hey Don M. How about a picture of your handiwork?
It has taken a couple of weeks or so but I now have pictures avaiable of the exhaust system & main stand stop on my CB350F.  An hour or so of hacking & filing produced the piece.
Cheers, Don Madden.
