Topic: What to do with carbs 73 750

Hey everyone. New guy here,

A few weeks ago I picked up a 73 that I pulled out of a barn. Missing original seat, air box, and a few other small things.

I've been pulling it apart and working out a plan, but I'm totally new to this. I know I need to de-rust the tank, and rebuild the carbs.

I don't believe the carbs are the originals. They have the 1-4 throttle cables. And the manifold that holds them all together is labeled b750a but I can't find anything on any of the actually carbs.

Now. My main question is, while sitting on the bike. The far left carb is shot. Someone bubba'd the threads on top of the throttle body.

So!

A. Is this repairable
B. Is it worth it
C. Can someone point me in the right direction for a replacement and what I'm actually looking for.
D. Can I switch this over to a single push/pull cable setup.


Like I said I'm a total noob but I'm into getting my hands dirty and figuring it out.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

B750A could've been on a 73.

I'm not a carb expert, but I know there was a member here that was a go-to source for carb rebuilding and purchasing parts, etc. harrisluv maybe?

Yea same set of carbs until 76 or so it seems. But the 1-4 throttle is what's throwing me off. I can't imagine they just switched that bit.

The bikes made after the 1969 (K0) model had the 4 carbs on a single bracket plate, and a push-pull cable set at the throttle grip. Make sure your bike has the 2-cable throttle grip? If it has the 1-cable grip instead, you can offer it to K0 owners, along with those carbs, as they are pretty hard-pressed to find those early ones.

You can get a whole 'nuther set of carbs from places like eBay (probably would need rebuilding), or if you want some fully rebuilt, contact Harriluv here. He has a large collection of them!

Only one throttle cable at the grips. Which was already trashed and needs replacing. If anyone wants to swap I'm down for that.

Umm...throttle tube? Do you mean, the screw-in elbow at the throttle grip? Those are screwed into the throttle housing. Look underneath that twistgrip, see if there is a second hole in the back (closer to the rider)? If not, you have a [rare] K0-style throttle grip, which K0 guys would like to have: I have a K0 I am trying to restore, myself! I've been using a 2-cable grip, but if you want to swap for it, I'd be up for that?

No. It's the tube inside the cap that the throttle cable screws into. That has the slit that guides the throttle cable into the carb

I don't see a message from the OP.  I have spare bodies (like #1) for the early set he has or I can do a deal for the correct set.
