XBR500 speedo and tach interchangeable to cb550?
« on: November 08, 2016, 09:47:02 AM »
Hello!

Im fixing up my cb550. The speedo and gauge are pretty tired (and quite frankly, pretty ugly) so im looking for a nice replacement. I came across a speedo and tach from a XBR500. Ive looked up the ratio on these counters and couldn't find anything. I did find the ratios for the GB500TT (nearly the same bikes as the XBR500). They are the same as the cb550 (7:1  2240:60mph). What i can't seem to find is if the cables wil fit and if not if this can be fixed..
Is there anybody who tried the above and knows if this work? Or are there on forehand problems to this idea?

Thanks in advance

Martijn

I have no clue, myself. But, your situation gave me a thought. I am wondering if we might could come up with a thread, in "Project Shop" folks could supply info, about parts from other model Hondas or whatever, that could be used on others, with little or no modification? If we could develop such a thread within here and make it a "Sticky", it would be there, at the top, to provide info for those wanting to make changes of components, for whatever reason. Of course it would take awhile to get much info on there, but if it was already in place, this "Speedo & Tach" question, might have been answered in there and this member would not have to wait to see if anyone had already done this swap or another member might have posted info on finding the info.

Might work, might not. Just a thought, that might help out.  ;)
