2016 Man Cup points
« on: April 29, 2016, 12:03:55 pm »
The points have finally been posted. Wow, took a long time even though they streamlined the buyback process to make it easier to tabulate the numbers. Oh well- at least we got em!

Looks like the rookie, Larry- "The determined" came in at 77th with only one day of racing.  Our man, Wrench Spinner Bill- aka Billy Bling Bling is in 64th place, Jon Weeks-"Mr. Automatic" is sitting at 61st."Youngblood" Trey found the 24th spot, Wilbur-"I'm no longer a rookie" shows up at 23rd and I round out the list in 10th place.

We've got a long season ahead and I expect everyone listed to step up their game so I know those positions will get better as we move forward. The beauty is no one got hurt or broke any equipment at this last race. Praying that will remain the case for the remainder of the season.

Unfortunately I'm off to a horrible season in the 8.88 index( Crazy 8's) class showing on the list in 20th place. Time to get my race face on. I've got to get out and test the old KZ more as I only ride it when we go racing. Practice may not make me perfect but it will make me one with the bike and that eliminates a huge variable.

23rd place! Woo-Hoo! Now if I could just get them to spell my damn name correctly...

I had contacted Dave earlier this month after seeing my name misspelled on the preliminary results for the Spring race (#1 Qualifier in Street E/T!), and explained that the misspelling goes back to the November race. Well..... they did go back and correct the spelling for the November results, then they turned around and misspelled it again for the Spring results. Damn.

Hey, I'm still in the top 25! Only 75 points behind first place!

"Wilbert", sheesh...

Looks like Trey is right there with me with also 52 points!

Yes, I notice they spelled the name wrong again!!! Funny thing about the name deal, I filled my tech card out this time and used my aka of "Frank" but they still used John on the points tabulation. Hmmm.

You and Trey did well. Being in the top 25 gives you both a chance to move up. Concentrate on getting the bike more rider friendly and you'll see how much easier it becomes to concentrate on the rest of your race technique. Hell, I've been doing this for over 20 years and I'm still trying to find ways to make my bike more consistent. A small change here and there can be the difference between a win or a loss.

That's da way it works!  Lol

Well, not exactly. If he's doing it correctly, they look at factors beyond just points if there is a tie. Better average reaction time, closest to dial in average, most rounds won etc.. come into play to seperate and properly place those with the same numercial points. Its not a random thing in spite of what some think.

I did hear the track announcer identify you as Frank on the round I happened to see. ;D ;D Sometimes those aka's confuse folks.

Yes, there are many tiebreaker 's. My point is it ain't over and if you score more than the others you are tied in numerical points next round you move up that much!  Large swing by out pointing the 30 or so people with the same points! Carry on,  lol, Bill

Thanks for the explanation. Obviously I was referring to current points placement, not points from future races.

Long season ahead fellas. Lets concentrate on making rounds. Use your present standing as incentive to go kick some tail in Rockingham.

How much does Man Cup pay for a win in ST/ET at a event ?  How much is the payoff if you win the points race at the end of the year #1 = in money and contingency awards. How about $500 for a perfect light and DEAD ON THE DIAL to anyone thru the season as many times as you can do that, with points winner getting a leather jacket from JEGS at the awards dinner plus the points cash. Not bad for a small cow town in OHIO, them OSU players get millons for a Saturday winning season.

POP'S, that would be great. I thought of trying something like that, but figured I had enough out there right now! That's a hard thing to do. There was a group that recognized that feat, as it doesn't happen often. K.Bill

Pops, you guys are lucky at the local level to have all those incentives in place. Most tracks on the east coast are struggling in their monthly bracket programs to even fill a bike class. That's one reason many of us flock to the Man Cup events or IDBL. To race locally, I have to run against the cars. I rarely do it because its like rolling dice, sooner or later, you end up craps. I run just enough events to qualify for the division bracket finals.

As to the perfect package option, we're having a hard enough time in getting more SOhc bikes to the track as it stands, I'm not certain adding another category will help us. I'd like to thank Larry and Wilbur for joining us and welcome Trey back. Hopefully TurboD will bring his new build out to Memphis since it'll be the closest race to his house. Maybe Chad Isley will show up too.

Bill is steadly building more bikes and engines so maybe he'll let someone else have something to throw a leg over.

Same question = how much does MAN CUP pay for a ST/ET WINNER at a event ????? How much does MAN CUP pay for the points winner at the end of the season ????? In street ET......     The $500 that National Trails Raceway pays for a perfect light and dead on the dial is for anyone in any class....
FRANK we are not lucky to have to race all the "BRUCE ' [ GOT BRUCE ] bikes that are many past IDBA,PRO-STAR, AMA PRO champions of the past years every week end for the past 23 years, got a HONDA rider Bob Burt who won the 2015 ST/BK CLASS and was runner up in the 2015 PRO BIKE-CLASS FINISHING 2ND to BRUCE on  HIS [ Bobs Honda ] no bar bike. Won the track points overall best package race two years in a row = never done by any racer car or bike. I'll give you his dial in for 2016 = 10.52 or .51 or .53 which ever way the wind is blowing = DEADLY.

Pops, I'd rather race against the Bruce bikes than cars any day. So yeah, I'd say you were lucky. Obviously his bikes and riders are beatable or you fellas would stay at home every race. To me, a great rider just makes me step up my game more and make me better in the end. As the saying goes; To be the man, you've got a to beat the man. I ain't skeered. Lol.

As to the street ET purse, they are prorated based on bike count. That was a heated discussion among some of us a few years ago when the parts manufacturers/distributors turned into race promoters. No more guaranteed purses without bike minimums. Last race I think there was over 65 bike each day so it would have paid $1000. Unsure of yearend bonus other than a gold card.

DAMM MR. Hondamatic man Weeks WAS TELLING US IT COST HIM $1000 TO COME TO A Man Cup Race = so if he wins the event he wins 0 ????? That and his story of sliding down the track for 400 feet after a crash and not getting killed makes him the luckiest person I know.
Bill: Your build to be the points champion so what is the payout for the winner in 2016 in ST/ET ?????

Sliding don't kill you pops, I thought someone with all your self confessed experience would know that.... ;D

Self confessed experience being 30 years on the Columbus OHIO Fire Dept. I seen many bike rider laying on the ground after a four wheeler made a left turn in front of them = they lost sliding under or over those folks vehicles that said " I DIDN'T SEE HIM OR HER " Never seen anyone slide down a track 400 feet ???? My friend J.D. NIXON a SUPER GAS bike racer slide down a street, racing a car and hit a sign post on a crash = he laid  in a bed for 2.5 years unconscious then died ... my experience.

I'm well aware of the difference between "sliding" , "hitting" things and being run over Pops, we were discussing "sliding", don't need to be a fireman to work that out...
