Cylinder 2&3 not firing
« on: April 28, 2016, 05:56:50 PM »
I accidently got the area around my coils wet while the tank was of on my 75K. Number 2 and 3 cylinders will fire just a little
then nothing. You can grab the pipes. Checked and dried all connections. Do you think I did something to the coil for thos two cylinders. 2 & 3 plugs are wet when removed.

Bike was parked and tank was off. I stepped on my hose handle and it sprayed the bike around the coils. I am running the spark plug wire splicers
from Z1 enterprises. I have unscrewed them from the wires to see if they were wet.

Okay, Here's what I did today. Battery was replaced, swapped both coils with another set I had. Still no fire to 2&3. Using a test light I have power going to the black and white wires which go to the coils. Swapped condenser for 2 and 3. Nothing. I don't think something getting wet when I washed it would cause this.

With IGN on and killswitch in RUN you should have voltage between the points when open. You can use a testlight for this. When this is not the case and coil gets 12V by the Black/White wire as you said, there must be a bad connection somewhere in the yellow wire from the coil to the points. My bet is this: examine very carefully if the spade (is that the word?) connectors at the 2+3 points do not touch the plate and ground. You wouldn't be the first to have this. BTW, do you happen to have a multimeter? Please report back.
