Some question, cb550

I was just wondering what gasket sets you guys are using and having good luck with. I just went through the top end on my 550 and used an emgo gasket kit ( yes yes i know never use cheap parts ) but i didnt evan know if the engine was good so i was trying to get it together for the lowest amount possible to see if the motor was good. Well ive got it going and in the end of the head where the caps that hold the rocker arm shafts in the orings that go on are leaking on one side, there the new ones that came with the kit so now im questioning all the other orings that came with the kit, valve seals too. Im thinking there not going to last long. So i want to pull it back apart and put some good quality gaskets and orings in now that i know it runs and drives like it should.  My other question is whats the fix on a stuck clutch? Every time i let it sit for a day or two the clutch sticks and i have to put in 5th gear and rock it to break it free, let it sit for a few days it does it agsin. Should i pull the clutch pack and sand the glaze off

thange the oil ..one ekstra ..or put a small stick in the handel..so the handel is pulled a few milimeters..then the plates dont stick together..my cbx does it..often..i have once nearly broken a hole in the vall..start the beast up..and it vas going a sekund before i vas ready..

I doubt the O-rings are to blame. It's more likely that the two copper or aluminium washers on top and underneath the PLATE CYLINDER HEAD SIDE COVER SETTING are not sealing the 6mm bolt well anymore. I recommend to replace them by undamaged copper (or maybe better aluminium) washers. You can look them up in your parts list.

Change the oil, that makes since easy stuff first. Good call deltarider thats what i suspected at first, after checking over it real good its most definitely one of the orings leaking.

I'm sorry, forgot to mention I borrowed the pics from a German site. Someone had tried to stop the leaking by using liquid gasket stuff.

As far as head gaskets go I will always suggest going Honda OEM.

Can you still get oem honda head and base gaskets? Do they come in different thicknesses? I was thinking about getting the quench set just right while i was in there this time, the emgo head gasket was .059 and base gasket was.020 before i installed them so there should be some room to get it a bit tighter

You can still get many gaskets and seals from Honda.  Stay away from Emgo.

Yea thanks I did some searching and found a ton of oem stuff i thought was unavilable. lol emgo, I knew when i bought the kit i was going to regret it, cheap parts always come around and bit me in the ass never fails.

Ha! That is exactly what what my motor looked like when I took it apart a few months back. RTV all over the underside of those cam caps. No crush washers but the PO must have used an entire tune of that crap.

Mitchell...I only used Honda gaskets on my top end and a very thin coat of Hylomar on both sides of the base and head gaskets. I also used it on the sealing pucks on the head. I think I ordered my gaskets from 4 into 1.
