Pedrosa to Yamaha?
« on: May 03, 2016, 10:56:31 AM »
Unconfirmed, but MCN reports Pedrosa moving from Repsol Honda to Movistar Yamaha team, after Yamaha not being able to reach a deal with Maverick Vignales.  Hmmm.

well they have to get a spaniard for the sponsors , would prepare to see a younger ridder but i suspect pedrosa is rossi's choice he does not like a strong team mate .
i would go with Alex rins , he is at least spanish and young .

Interesting.....vinales is an idiot if he has turned down that opportunity, it would have been a big offer, and let's face it, he really hasn't yet got much history to bargain with. Perhaps he didn't want to be with rossi either. Maybe honda will make him an offer if danny leaves.

Ok just read the article...crashlow to repsol honda? Is that just the uk press beating it up? Really?
Personally I would be sad if danny left....such a long time with honda, and really...why would anyone choose to go to a team with rossi as the main focus...poor danny..forever the bridesmaid?

Crutchlow is fast. Apparently he has been riding a bike set up ridiculously similar to Marquez's.

I think Vinales made the right choice. Another year and Suzuki is right there in the mix. Better to be on a bike you know, than learning a new one.

How are you ever going to know how a new bike is unless you ride it.? A good rider doesn't need to learn a new bike, they adapt, if you are fast, you should be fast on just about anything bar a complete Lemon, Stoner is a great example of a rider thats fast on anything, and in less than no time at all, thats what testing is for.... ;)

There's a reason there are only five who have won championships on multiple bikes.

Maybe it's not quite that simple.

On another note, I hope Lorenzo fails miserably at Ducati. On top of that, I hope they get rid of Dovi, and Ian, and sign Stoener, and he beats the hell out of Lorenzo.

I think Lorenzo feels he's as good as Stoner, like "if he's fast on that Ducati, then so will I be", thats why I mentioned Lorenzo's ego in another post. I don't feel its the bikes fault that some riders haven't won on different makes, that Ducati Stoner won on was a lemon, he's just a great rider, maybe there's a shortage of great riders.... ;D  You should have seen the setup on Doohans "big bang" 500, no one else could ride that either...  Big balls, or mad, you pick... ;D

I have my doubts about the story -- mostly about Yamaha selecting a rider as old as Dani since it should be developing a successor to Rossi.  No offense intended to Dani Pedrosa.

I understand the appeal of a Spaniard to Movistar.

I like Crutchlow, but I wonder if he's peaked in MotoGP.  He's been on good gear for years and has not graduated to "alien" status.

It is possible that Lorenzo will succeed with the Duc, but I think that Casey was a RARE talent in being the one guy to consistently ride that Bronco well.  The Ducatis of that era broke the careers of several successful riders.

I guess we'll have to see how this pans out.

i believe the stumbling block for vinales joining yamaha is money , for some reason they are trying to get him on the cheap
offering less than he is already getting paid . if they were to at least get close to suzuki's new offer i think he would move.
crutchlow to honda , not for me ....... they really want miller but he is still all over the place ,maybe they are going to get
someone in for a year to see if he comes good .

I agree with Simon. If they want Vinales on his way up, he will not come cheap, especially given his fast performance thus far.  The kid looks pretty fearless.

i read that article to day cafe and there was no real substance in any of it , just speculation .
what moto gp actually needs is a fast american , they are starting to filter through in the red bull rookies
but the best hope i have seen is p j jacobsen in supersport , i think he is the real deal . sooner he gets to
Motogp the better .

Unfortunately Cameron Baubier will be getting long in the tooth if he makes it back over to GP bikes.  Some people see potential with Joe Roberts, too.

Agreed, the top riders in MotoAmerica Superbike are all beyond their prime -- agewise -- except for Baubier who was in Moto1 (Marquez's teammate). America has a huge moto market and a huge sportbike market. It could use another international contender. Spain - for all of its economic problems - does invest in developing Spanish champions.

That's because the parochial spanish press want it to happen...and who could blame them. But those close to tge scene have said pedrosa has signed nothing and honda are still negotiating with him.
Interesting year.

so do i , being rossi's team mate might worry him though . he will have to get a deal that gives him equal access to parts and information .
rossi is very controlling i would hate vinales to end up like ben spies .
once vinales has made his decision the rest of the grid will fall into place quite quickly , i see livio suppo has said he thinks crutchlow would
be better off staying in the same team next year which rules him out of the repsol job .
i see tech 3 have signed jonas folger which i think is a good forward thinking move .

Holy #$%*, poor Dovi, what a season.

I think Rossi has a Maxwell Smart/007 spy car type oiling device on that #46 by the way MM & Dovi tossed it!
