Engine builders south east
« on: April 25, 2016, 08:18:47 PM »
Looking for someone here in the southeast that rebuilds engines. Obviously someone thats familiar with 750s. I just dont have the tools for this. Engine has 12K miles. It was taken apart before I got it. I dont think anything serious missing. It shifts fine I think. Pistons are clean and bores arent scored at all. I think it was going to be a race bike around 1985 and thats as far as it got. One oil orifice jet is missing. The rest off the bike is very nice. Yellow paint everywhere. This bike will be original in appearance when done 4/4s and all.
 Engine is a 74  k-4 750.
  Thanks for some leads.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

HondaMan does rebuilds. He is very trustworthy. You can build a pallet for the motor to mount the motor securely. Shipping it as parts really would be difficult and hard to keep everything intact. MReich or is it MRiech ships heads and similar parts frequently and he does a double box setup with the 1st part more or less encased in foam panels and then the outer box has 3-4" space around it for peanuts to cushion the box.
Several people have had cases broken by heavy handed treatment. One even had it on a pallet.

Thanks! I thought of Bill Benton but I wasnt sure he does that. Hondaman , well I have his book and as far as taking it apart.. That person didnt have his book. :o  Ive gone and ordered parts and Im doing it myself. I have a fairly local machine shop. The biggest hurdle for me will be not missing all the rubber o-rings I hope.

Be careful with the machine shops as many don't get many MC motors and there are numerous posts about fouled up results.  Maybe put in writing exactly what you want them to do and communicate that so there is no misunderstanding.
Guys have had tolerances way out of spec on boring work and had to start over with new cylinders...things like that. HondaMan has had to train a few shops on what he has been looking for...
Just a word to the wise.  Good Luck!  People here can help you with questions.  Start a thread and ask away, no such thing as a stupid question.

Ship your machine work out to the known folks on our site! Many machine shops will tell you they can do it. Our guys know these 40 year old engines and have been doing them since new.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
