Don't go to Times Square,
it is a tourist ripoff, cheap goods sold in stores, bunch of nasty pan handling people,
druggies, etc etc, probably the worst of NYC high rise areas.
Maybe it was a nice place to visit in the 1800's.  :)
That area has been cleaned up for years. All the #$%* has been flushed out. It has a very high police presence. It is crowded with shoppers and tourists.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Time Square was much nastier in the 80s.

The Yankees stink this year - go to a Mets game! ;D

Or go to a Yankees/Red Sox game and root for the Sox. Could be fun!

this will be a fast way to experience a new York attitude, haha.

Yankees are playing good baseball right now. as are the mets.  You can have the ultimate baseball outing and go to a 1:00 game in the Bronx(Yankees) and then take the 4train to the 7 train for a 7:00 game in queens(mets).  schedules line up like this about 5 times a season.

I went last night. Had the best seats I've ever sat in. And the ball boy gave me a ball.

When I went in 2001, it was all about CBGB's, Arlene's Grocery, the Mercer Lounge -- seeing live music.

We spent the week in NYC. Had a great time as with son to 6 museums and a few shows. Very inexpensive.
AAnd the people in Brooklyn were great.  :)

I remember my Uncle Tony came to visit us in Texas, he lives on Long Island.

We had to get a few items from the store, he offered to drive, I said Ok!

I was navigating, told him to turn left at the next street, he pulled up and stopped at the red traffic light.  The light turned green and he took off immediately very fast pulling right in front of the oncoming traffic! Uncle Tony, we dont drive like that down here!!

As a born and bred New Yorker, I will ask you a NY question. Did he make it?  If he did, whats the problem here?   ;)
