I recently had metzler lasertecs on my 550F. I found them great for grip and handling, but the rear wore out after only 3500miles. The tread design of the front one still looks just like it did back in the eighties! - but it works well. Here in Australia they were one of the most expensive options so I probably wont get them again,

I'm sure you'll find a lot of various opinions on tires here... but even so, you'll still get a lot of good feed back on the Lasertecs. I use them on my 750 K3 and like them. Other than a general favorable opinion of them, I recommend them because you can get them in stock sizes. A friend of mine had some quality issues with a set of his (splitting) and switched back to Dunlop K70s, which are also available in stock size. I've had no issues with the Metzeler though.

No personal experience with Metz's, but a friend of mine also just said he would never buy them again after how quickly they wore out on his touring bike.

Personally, I just installed a Bridgestone BT45 on my front, and last year I put a Bridgestone S11 Spitfire in the rear. Next time I change the rear it will also be a BT45.

One other thing with the Metzelers... in addition to the Lasertecs, they also have a more vintage looking tread...

This is my first vintage restore. Picked up this 750f last fall. Putting it back together and am going with "fresh tires". I am currently running Metzler M880s on my 83 wing. And love the feel and confidence of new tires. I think the 750 will get a pair of lasertecs. Chaparral motorsports in California is where i bought the wing tires. As for the question of where and how do you ride. The answer is Northern Michigan M-22 North. This 750 is going to be my solo bike. Ride on

The Lazertec front (ME33 back in the old days) can go 17,000 miles  and wear evenly, assuming the wheel is balanced and pressure is kept around 38 PSI.  The Lazertec rear is the old ME55 and will wear out quickly.  The ME77 is a 'bargain' tire that isn't very cheap anymore and won't last long either.  The best bias ply tire Metzeler made for the rear was the ME88 Marathon, but sadly they quit making them.  Those would go 15,000+.  I put the last one to be found in Idaho on my 750 last fall.  Fred at the best motorcycle shop in the world, Big Twin Cycles in Boise, bought up a bunch when they were being discontinued and let me have the last one, which was very nice of him.

I have BT45's on my CB450 cafe and lazertec's on my CB750 they handle very similarly. I prefer the lazertecs a little they feel just a little smoother and seem to handle just a little nicer but..... (maybe just here in Canada)  lazertec's are one of the most expensive tires in the selection of 18" rears and 19" fronts and BT-45's are amongst the cheapest!

As for wear:
-CB450 with BT-45's i got about 7000km out of the rear and about 10,000km out of the front its just about done now after 5 years of riding
-CB750 with Lazertecs after 2400km's there is enough wear on the rear to notice. i have a feeling 5000-6000kms will be it for the rear, front i donno it still looks near new.

There is also a few others worth considering
-Pirelli Sport Demon's
-Avon road rider AM26
-Michelin Pilot Activ

There are also 2 new kids on the block that you may or may not be aware of

Continental Conti Classic Attack

I have used a couple sets of Lasertec's and found the rear to be more durable than anything else as grippy, and yeah you'll want something grippy for M22 :D..my latest favorite is Pirelli Sport Demons.

I have been using the Lasertecs on a few bikes and like them. Didn't know about those Conti Attack Classic tires though, will have to check them out. The Super Moto and ADV Attacks are great tires.

Handlebar,

I'm running Continentals on my K6 - RB2 Front and K112 rear.
Been running these since I bought her in 1976.

For me they don't wear out fast and provide good grip and handling.
