K1 oil filter cover

Was the oil filter cover painted silver or natural aluminum on the K1. I have read both so I am still not sure. I am almost done with a K1 restoration and I need to get it figured out. Thanks

Mine appears to be bare aluminum but who knows whats proper

They were painted the same color as the engine cases.
