Cb750 chop, from Murray , ky
« on: May 11, 2016, 05:41:57 AM »
My name is Matt, I'm a veteran of the air force and the army, I'm going to school to try and make another career change, I own an Amen Savior cb750 and am on hondachopper board, thought I'd increase my network as I'm also building a gl1100 for my father in law and also in the market for a cb\cl175. Let me know if anyone needs anything or if you're in the area!

Sure! Here it is. I just ordered a cb350 front drum to run. I'm actually curious on how much losing an inch in the front will change its stance? I just need front brakes, had a few close calls running rear only. If it's too much, what's the tallest tire i can run with cb350's 18" front wheel? I've converted to kick only, trying to get baffles for the crossovers fitted, and I've been playing with a 1.5ah battery in the starter compartment, which hasn't been working :-(. I plan on chopping an alien tank 2/3:1/3, and the 1/3 running oil...so I'll have a perfectly clean underwear area. Also ordered velocity stacks from steel dragon...I'm pseudo dialed in with pods, but I'll wait to fine tune the bugger once the stacks come in.

Digging the girder.  Definitely get you some front brake, though.  Even an anemic 350 drum is better than nothing.  Sorry no idea on the tire question though.

The 550 in the background, has that frame been Konged?

welcome aboard!

Sorry, thought everyone from Murray knows about 'down south'. I'm a western KY guy from way back and did a refresh year at MSU. Going 'down south' is driving to the TN state line to drink and buy liquor. Surely Murray hasn't gone wet over the years?

Mmm... GL1100.  That bike is more my territory.  Got me a '76 GL1000 and an '84 GL1200 Standard (last of the Naked 'Wings), and very briefly owned a full-dress '83 Aspencade.  Complicated bikes, but VERY good when you get them dialed in.

What's the plan with that one?  Full dress, naked, or somewhere in between?

Depends upon the maker of the tire. You can likely find 100/90-18s from a number of sources. You could re-spoke and re-rim the hub with a 19, 20 or 21" rim using a 40 spoke pattern. You'd need custom spokes, but if you ship the hub off to Buchanan's, they can rim and spoke it for you with Stainless spokes and lace, true, and return it to you for rubber and mounting.

Using a 1.5Ah battery is going to be a challenge, even for a kick-only. You can source any number of LiFe type batteries with >10Ah, even as much as 18Ah that are very small framed, and stable for mounting choices.
