Brake rotor question???
« on: May 17, 2007, 02:36:05 PM »
I just spend a couple of hours designing a pattern, milling holes and sandblasting my front brake rotor that came on my CB550K.  When I went to install it ,the diameter (11 5/8") was to large and it was hitting the caliper.  This rotor came on the 550 when I bought it, but the caliper was not mounted, so I just assumed it was the right one (my bad!) Anyways I ended up finding one off another one of my bikes that is the right diameter (10 7/8"), but now I am trying to figure out what this rotor belongs on?? Does anyone know??  It is a Honda part, 6 bolts mount it, the diameter is 11 5/8".  I can't use this on any of my bikes, but I want to figure out what it goes on, so I could offer it to someone else?? Thanx Jay

Sounds like it is from a 750.
You could use it if you got
a caliper and caliper hanger from a 750.
Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

I believe some of the larger rotors were mounted on the CB750's.

I turned down a 750 rotor to fit my 550. Hard steel; took a long time...but it works.   ;)

I wouldn't have spent the effort if it wasn't almost unworn...

does that cut into the swept area?

I guess the better way of saying it is does the bigger disk have a larger spider, or is it just wider on the disk proper?

Wondering as I have a friend looking for a smaller disk, and I have a couple spare 750 disks here.

Not sure on spider but bolt holes are the same and pads are the same (on later 750)
