Hello from Oakland, Ca. Returning to motorcycles.
« on: May 16, 2016, 03:55:25 PM »
Hello All,
I have been lurking these forums for a long long time trying to gain as much knowledge as possible.   I am picking up a 1971 Honda CB500 next weekend that I am going to rebuild into a cafe project.   Although this is the first time I will be rebuilding a bike from the ground up, it is not my first time working on motorcycles, nor is it my first bike.   I have been around motorcycles my whole life.   I come from a Harley Davidson family, and am the complete black sheep in the family considering I have never owned, nor do I have ever wish to own a HD.  I have always preferred metric bikes and racing bikes.
I actually got turned on to old Honda cbs when I was 19 and I traded a bicycle I had built for a 1982 Honda CB750 dohc.   That bike was a lot of fun, but I ended up selling to buy a more modern sport bike.   In retrospect, I wish I held onto the CB750.  After all of these years I am returning to a Honda CB, and I look forward to talking shop and trading knowledge with you all.

If any of you happen to have any information on the best place to obtain a set of 1971 CB500 carbs, I would greatly appreciate it.
