Not the best day of racing for me. I won first round but went .017 red in the second round to a pan head kick start Harley. He had a horrible reaction time and was over a second off his dial in. Dang it. If only, if only. Lol.

Tomorrow is a new day of racing. I'm carrying a positive attitude forward.

Bill was doing a once over on Purple rain tonight. He made some changes that should make him more comfortable on the bike tomorrow.

I think I was gifted that win due to my opponents red light. Give and take.

Purple haze had a blocked fuel filter that kept him from racing 1st round. He raced second round (auto buy back) he rolled back and red lighted. Only Frank was still racing going into 3rd round around 4:30. I left at 2:30. Some pictures/videos coming.

It was a long, hot weekend of drag racing. We made it home about an hour ago after stopping off to eat with some racing friends. Happy to be home safely. Nothing broke, and no one in our group got hurt- it was a great few days of racing.

I was able to go 3 rounds in street et I think it was. I lost first round in the 8.88 index class on my old KZ. I ran an 8.888@152, but due to a crappy reaction time, my opponent crossed the line first for the win. I really need to tighten up on my pro tree lights. Nothing worse than running dead on the index and loosing cause you didn't cut a decent light. I decided to race the wife's bike in Pro et at the last minute because she wasn't feeling 100% this morning. I had to do some self talk on the way to the registration tent as to whether or not I was loosing my mind to think I could still run 3 classes in the heat. My brain said yeah, pay the money and lets do this but as the day wore on, my body began to question the sanity of my brain. I had no real clue as to what to dial the bike in or what settings to put in the delay box. We had issues the day before with redlighting when the wife raced the bike. I made a quick decision to put my best educated guess numbers in the box and it netted a -.001 red. Wow, I almost nailed a perfect light. I added 4 numbers to the box the next round and went green. I took the win. Finally we had some decent numbers to work from. Long story short, I made it to the quarter finals and lost on a double breakout pass. I did he into the money round's .

No, Purple Rain had same set up as in Valdosta.  Cobra motor getting  head decked , we'll be at Memphis.  TrIed to get PR set up for me, only got it rideable for one pass, one of those fun race weekend's, just not quite right yet . Jon and Frank did well. It was so damn hot, wow! Memphis,  we do better. Jon had a .007 and a .004 reaction time! . Also ran dead on his dial once I think,  Bill

Hope you can get all your bikes straightened out by Memphis Bill. You've not been able to race at an enjoyable level yet and we're going towards the 3rd event of the season. Just don't be in a hurry and focus on getting at least one bike completed in race ready trim.

I seemed to be experiencing a few glitches with mine as well. I need to spend some time with it in the shop before the next race. I've been concentrating on getting the wife's new dragbike exactly right so I kind of neglected my stuff this season. I think we've got her's moving in the right direction at this point. I'm not where I wanted to be in street ET points so I've got to do better at the remaining races. I'm going to get some seat time between now and the next race to work more on consistence. I used to have my bike and myself in synchronization but my numbers where all over the place at this event. You cannot win without repeatable numbers.

And on a bike he'd never rode before!  Jon knows what he's doing and then some!  No better dial in man around. Frank,  yes I'm concentrating on Cobra Girl for Memphis.  Been real frustrating,  but I plan on prevailing!  Thanks, Bill

He did good with that reaction time and dial ins.  I could only hit a .005 on Sunday but let off the throttle too quick at the stripe and my opponent nipped me. Never got closer than .02 to my dials either. Of course the air varied like crazy from 3000--3600 feet each day with variable head and cross winds so unless a weather station was involved, a carb bike was basically taking a crap shoot in predicting ET.

Did we ever get a final report on Wilbur's runs on Sunday? I know he's traveling this week and spoke with him Saturday, but he was still due back to the line Sunday, or so I thought?

Not really certain of Wilbur's status from Sunday. I think he lost both rounds that day. I was still in three classes and never had time to check in with the fellas. I remember looking across the pit area at some point and Wilbur was driving out.

Yep. Raced on Sunday in the gawd-awful heat (100+ degrees both days). Lost 2nd round both days, so at least I could hang out in the shade! Did learn some valuable information this past weekend...

I need more practice!  ;)

Had a blast, always enjoy hanging at the track. Glad you were able to make it Cal, and good to know you guys made it back home safely.

Dang Jon, yuou would take the vid of my rookie mistake. I was out front on the guy with a .005 light. I kept looking back and he wasn't even close. I thought i was close to the stripe and chopped the throttle not realizing how much more distance i had to travel to cross the trap. He nipped me at the stripe costing me the win. Stupid, stupid rookie mistake!!

Thanks much for the video, it shows where i actually screwed up at the line when i threw the clutch away too quick causing a wheelie and slight bog.  And for the believers in rear struts, note how my bike squatted in the rear before the wheel came off the ground. Imagine what that would have looked like with a rigid suspension.

FRANK in the 10's : A rookie you are NOT it was the guy in the other lane that got a win by split second, if life was a drag race on two wheels every day those split second roll out, sit up, tap the brake would make many winners and losers !!!! 8.8888 in crazy 8's carb bike 3000-3500' DA and 100 degree heat = you be the man, and the other guy WON then keep that ticket. At Memphis [ Millington ] you will be at 250-500' DA but temp and humidity  will be the factor= but I'll bring my weather station. Bill I'm bringing you my stainless steel machinist  straight edge 28' long for a gift.

Hoping for a much better showing in Memphis for certain. I might run my car tire bike in top gas at this race since the wife won't be racing at this event. Or...i might race her old small tire bike in pro ET. One thing for certain, if I don't buckle down with the Honda in street et, I wont get my top ten finish and can kiss a potential win goodbye. It'll be hot again in Memphis no doubt about it guys.

Frank in the 10's : Their is a guy 15 minutes from my home who has a = SOHC 836 WITH FUEL INJECTION and a trick GS front end, and with a tricked out brain box you could buy an add to the tune , no jets, this puts you in the 2016 race mod like NASCAR, PRO-STOCK NHRA CARS with you leaving your jet wrench home and bringing your lap top. The FI is from a HONDA BIKE so parts and things can be found very easy for a real wrench spinner. He wants $2400 for the SOHC 836 F-MODEL, but I thought the F-MODELS had bad valve guides from the OEM motor in the 750 SOHC. I'll check him out next week as I'm at the track Fri-Sat-Sun enjoying life.
PS. Sunday is FATHERS DAY so on the way to the track I will stop by my POPS place at rest to thank him for being my FATHER !!!!!
