Got Approved
« on: May 20, 2016, 04:08:23 AM »
I finally have time to expand my garage, and the wife gets laid off (so the funds aren't there).
BUT
this past weekend I found 2 used , ugly, dented steel doors to replace my wooden, broken doors for $7.00.
Also found 2 old sliding glass doors at the recycling center for a donation. I hope to find enough old sliding glass doors
to frame in and make a wall of glass to let natual light in. (maybe having a little natural light will improve my S.A.D. (seasonal non-bike-driving-wintertime A$$back Disorder).
had already purchased all the 2x4's, 2x10's,and most of the roofing years ago.

This renovation will be made of people's throw aways, but who cares, it is just a garage, right?

You get an "ATTABOY"!  How big you going to build?  Sounds (almost) like fun!

I used glass sliding doors for windows in my shop, good stuff.  I always take all the aluminum off and frame just the glass pane.

That's some resourcefulness.  Great finds.

Well done Michel !

Since I wandered away from my career 8 or so years ago, I've adopted the creed that everything gets a "second life". I mend, make do and generally avoid buying new wherever possible. To help my support my remaining (modest) work related goals, I have a garage network of three servers, two desktops, a laptop and about three switches - all of which were being thrown out. Hardware cost zero, software licences sort of zero.

Nothing like the inventiveness that a little adversity can bring out.

Keep it up !
