Leathers!
« on: May 23, 2016, 08:44:34 PM »
Without getting into TMI territory - how many of you wear full leathers when riding?

I have the jacket, have the boots, gloves, but so far I have resisted getting leather pants.  Thinking about dropping the dime and picking up a pair.

My overpants have worn out - I need to replace them (heck they're almost 3 years old! - that's a long time for something that gets worn dang near 300 days a year).  When it comes to leather there is nothing that protects as well.

I wear leather jacket, unless the weather calls for mesh.

Pants?  Most often just wild ass loggers.

i have a full set old leather..vith some plastic protecktion
..but not the real modern type..its 2 part and can zip it to a komplet set,,but tavses/pants is overall type, so no real need for sealing to teight at summer time
..i have a nice set of daytona boot in 46"..and a flip up helmet vith sunglasses build inn..so a nice set up.
.hot at vinter and relative cool at summer,,that the good of leather..and strong..dont heat up and burn you take a long asfalt glide ...a good vay to hold the leater is to give it a bit leater protekter" leather grease" often..instead to" over do" it 1 at year.(.and smell funny for some days)..a light coat 4 times at year holds it vaterteight and soft..
i kan not speak english/but trying!!

Full leathers when I ride at the track or on some very spirited mountain rides on my modern sportbikes.

Leather Jacket, gloves, boots.  Pants are usually Dickies or jeans - but I can't pull a full "Morrison" with leather pants.

What you see in my avatar even on my Goldwing. I do need to get a better jacket because the one I have can get warm when riding the Goldwing, it's fairing does such a good job at blocking the wind that I don't get enough circulation to stay cool. No problems on the 750 even on a hot day so long as the bike's moving. I also plan on ditching the sneakers and getting an actual set of motorcycle shoes/boots soon. My kid has full riding gear for when he takes his bike to a track day and the jacket he has is much nicer than mine. It has the same if not more protection than mine but breathes much better.

I prefer textile jackets and pants. Less expensive, are often treated with GoreTex, and available in different colors/with conspicuity stripes. Not to mention body armor in all the right places.

Full textile suit with armor these days. With gloves, boots and a full face lid. Had a nice scare recently to remind me to stop fukcing around without the full get up.  :) Rick.

That's what they get for tasting delicious.

The fact that they also make good clothing is a nice bonus though :)

Here lies the Lizard King (I was at Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris a couple of weeks ago -- also the resting place of Edith Piaf and Chopin amongst others):

He was living in Paris when he died because of that conviction on a trumped up/false complaint of public indecency.

Lots of adornments from fans around his grave, which get cleaned off and replaced again and again.  His father recently (in the 90's) installed a bronze plaque with the inscription "ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ ΕΑΥΤΟΥ" - True to Himself.

I'm kind of surprised to hear you all say that.  I would have figured some of the old timers and hardcore riders would have used full leathers.

I'm not opposed to textile riding clothes - heck I live in Seattle, I'd be crazy to not own rainproof gear.

I do own textiles for rain and HOT summer weather. We hardly get any rain in SoCal though.

If money were no object, I would replace my full (cowhide) Alpinestars leathers with kangaroo leather.  MUCH lighter and thinner, and more durable than cow.

I like everything about leather ....

...except for the price

I have leather jackets, gloves, boots that are safety tested by ME....but pants were found at swap meet for $10 and are much too warm for main part of the riding season, as they are Hein Gericke snowmobile pants.  Its hard to find good, safe gear these days that doesn't make you look like a power ranger or some kind of BMW adventure  dude.

When I was in Germany the hotel was down the street from the Dianese store.

I'd walk by it on my walking trips around town and see guys getting custom fitted to 10k+ Euro leather suits.  Looked more like performance art than trying on clothes!
