CB500 four K1 Restoration Oil Light
« on: May 24, 2016, 01:36:41 PM »
Hi I have just finished my resto/rebuild of my CB500/4 1975.  I have a question that I cannot seem to find already asked (if it has been then apologies):
The oil light comes on when the engine has run for a few miles and is then idling.  It goes out at higher revs.  Could this be the relief valve passing?  It doesn't happen cold.

A while back my 550 developed the same issue - it was very scary seeing the oil light coming on while the engine was running and I was too scared to let it idle at lights, etc, but it turned out to be just a faulty oil pressure switch!

Thanks for that, I didn't replace the oil switch so it could be 40 years old!! I'll replace it as a matter of course, but I think I'll take a look at the relief valve as well just to be sure.
