Cycles South
« on: May 24, 2016, 06:18:26 PM »
Anyone here ever see the movie Cycles South?  Made in '71 or so.  Story about 3 guys riding around Colorado and such on motorcycles.

Movie came up because 'A Story Worth Living' is getting universally panned as junk (can't say, never saw it) and someone brought up this movie as the original and better version of it.

Cycles South is a really cool movie.  Colorado to Panama on 70s dirt bikes.

I've only seen the first part where they're riding around on the train tracks and whatnot.

It was cool.

Have never seen this movie but have heard people talk about it over the years. Just watched a little of it on You Tube and really couldn't get into it. I need to watch it all and maybe I'll be more interested in it. My favorite is On Any Sunday, best motorcycle movie ever made 8)

The adventure aspect of Cycles South is what I like about it.  I couldn't imagine trying to get from CO to Panama on mostly trails.  I won't spoil it for you but it is quite an adventure especially on BSAs.

There is a really cool movie in the same vein as On Any Sunday called "The Thrill is On".  It focuses on just the AMA Grand National Championship of 1971.  The movie was never finished but it is up on youtube.

If I remember right I think there are boobies in it! :)

I saw that first run at the drive in but I was only 10 years old. My parents had no problem taking me and my sister to R rated movies instead of hiring a baby sitter. We would usually fall asleep before the good stuff came up anyway. But I stayed awake for that movie. I have seen it since I think on Netflix a few years back. The one little dude cracked me up, he was always crashing but never got seriously hurt.

A total 'freedom trip' movie from back in the 70's.  :)

You mean the little dude Bobby, the one who they said is a "Champion Bike Racer" but later they say that they were only kiddin'  :D Yeah,I like that.  ;D  He busted up his headlight pretty bad in one of the first falls and must have not been able to travel at night after that.
