Another difficult choice for BOTM.
Since I promised loonymoon I'd tell my bike's story when the voting began and since the old gallery was deleted along with the story, here it is again.
In 2003 I was working with a guy who had just bought a mint 69 BSA 650. I told him I missed my old 65 Honda dream that I had in the early seventies. He suggested I get a Honda four so I started looking around for one. I wanted a fixer upper, something that I could wrench on.
I found this little four that had been stored in a shed since 78. The original owner told me he and his bother-in-law got identical bikes for Christmas from their wives in 73. (nice presents!)
He rode the bike to work every day ( rain, shine or snow ) until one day he passed out from some stomach problem while riding only a few blocks from his house and woke up in an ambulance.
The bike wasn't stored well but it was dry (old gas, black oil and solid brake fluid). I cleaned it inside and out and replaced or fixed the broken parts from the wreck along with the usual things and it started right up. I did everything myself except mount the new tires but I had a lot of help from this site.
Here is what it looked like when I picked it up.

I totally agree, they ALL are nice bikes but, the results from all the work, that Jim has put
into his 400F, really makes this bike a sight to behold.

Thx guys,

I'm enjoying the GREAT compition this month myself. Bill440 just got a little bit of the info on what this bike really has. Someday I will get ALL the mods down on paper and share them with the SOHC4 family. I could start now, but I would just bore all of you with details.............. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

That 400 of Jim's is flat out amazing.  The style, the look, the attention to detail, Jim put together one heck of a bike.  Its a pity I never made an excuse to drive the 10 miles (if that) to see it in person.  There's always next riding season,  ;D

Yeah, Jim did let me in on some of the work he'd done on that bike, and when he's ready, I want to hear more. He did such a great job on this bike, that you really have to do some serious looking to see the external mods. Fantastic job Jim. :D 8)

Well, long story short, I'm having ACL surgery on the 28th, so the bikes set up for winter already.  If that weren't the case, I would be out riding,  ;D

Well, you take care, get mended and hope things go well for you. Jim'll probably be waiting for you to go for a spin, when you're ready. Better watch him, he's pretty tricky. LOL

Hey MRieck,
Nice looking bike!! Just one question......Does that thing ever get off the lift??? :D All your pics are in the shop on the lift? Do you have some of you doing a big a$$ burnout or a huge wheelie?? :o :o
The thing about common sense is that, it's not that common.

That's funny...at least the lift is in my garage ;). I have pics of burnouts from long ago...better ones from the FJ1314. Plus I have the busa which is generally what I ride.  Anyway...it only goes from the lift to the dyno and back. ;) ;D ;D Seriously the Honda has done her time and brought me half way around the USA. I think she has earned a rest(until I get on her and twist the #$%* out of throttle all the time). :D

Ill let Mike answer the question for himself Teal but I would lend my support here as I personally saw the bike in question the other week.

I have to say that it is easily the best of all the bikes on this forum! And thats an understatement. The photos dont do justice to the time, energy, detail and engineering gone into this bike. It is the most modern CB750 you will probably ever see. Everything about this bike down to the allen bolts are carerfully picked, polished etc etc....I have never seen a bike like it. Gets my vote for sure....and this statement in no way reflects the quality of other bikes here which are all very good....its just that having seen Mikes bike I know he deserves to win this poll.  Ive seen a lot of CB750s and this really has to be the best one Ive seen. Whereas Garage Queens or Trailer rides are sit at home, look good bikes, the thing is the REAL deal - it rides probably outperforming 95% of the bikes on here (but thats my assumption not based on proven fact so...). However when you consider that Mike has 2 other bikes -a souped up Hyabusa and a nitro FJ1200 (I think thats the model) then you can see why the CB750 dosent always get the miles....but if hes had it snce Day 1 (1975) then wouldnt you be riding something else occasionaly by this time?

In any event whatever you think, when I saw it, it was off the lift and on the sidestand :-) It gets my vote for being a truly outstanding bike...
cheers
Andy

I guess you missed my attempt at humor in my post. Well, then I guess I'll have to be serious. Seeing how I have about 10 weeks off in the summer every year I'd venture the Honda get ridden more than the 50% of the bikes on this board. I put about 2,000 miles on it this past year. Did I ride it to Mid Ohio this year? No, I rode the busa. Did I ride up to New Hampshire(race track) this past summer on the CB? Yes, I did. I'm well acquainted with the "Trailer Queen" moniker...I think a lot of car guys are like that because many only have one rod and are afraid to get a bug on the windshield..... forget about getting caught in the rain ::). My CB doesn't look  "perfect" because it actually gets ridden. No vehicle that actually gets used ever will. Mine has the usual chips, wear marks, small scratches etc. I'd never own a show piece for that very reason but I DO pride myself on maintaining all my bikes in tiptop condition. Why have a piece of equipment and not use it for its intended purpose. ???

          Hey MRjeck,
I gotta tell you, Compared to a lot of bikes I've seen, your's is like showroom condition (from what I've seen). I really like your paint scheme. It really sets off the bike.
