what size is bolt for kickstand cb550?

Hello I was wondering since I've had my t5 honda cb550 why it always would tip over so easy when on the kickstand. Well after 4 years of this question I looked down to realize that the nut to secure the bolt wich secures the kickstand arm to the frame was missing!! I have been riding around for years without one! Anyway what size may this be? I want to got to home depot to get one but I cannot take off the bolt to take it in & size it up. Any help? Is it metric or US?

That would be a 10 mm hex nut.

I got a 10mm hex nut & it did not seem to fit. It looked like it was stripping. It went on too tight
