CB500 charging questions
« on: May 31, 2016, 12:08:31 PM »
Forgive my lack of knowledge regarding electrical, but I'm trying to learn.  My bike isn't charging.  Rev test on fully charged battery yields a maximum of 13.5 volts (even above 4000 rpm).  So, I've tested the stator (1.0-1.9 between each of the yellow wires, no continuity to ground) and the field coil (5.5 between white and green wires, with no continuity to ground).    While the posts that I read have stated that it is rare that stators go bad without physical damage to the case (I haven't had any), based on these measurements would this indicate that my stator is bad?  What further tests do I need to do?

Run the same test above that you did for DC volts but flip the multimeter knob to AC volts.  What do you see?
