Before I yank this motor out...
« on: June 02, 2016, 11:49:45 AM »
Ol Greenie here has a weep from a puck or possibly 2 of them.  There's no way I can think of to put a dab of sealant that would stop the weep, is there?   Without pulling the motor?      Anybody ever tried anything like that ?

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

You could install frame kit, one of the main reasons is the access to the head.

Nice clean bike, greenjeans.
Good suggestion by 70CB750...
Gotta take the valve cover off and the cam towers out.
Also, if the cam tower studs were removed previously, seal those too...

Frame has new paint, so I won't be adding a frame kit.   I was hoping that someboy had succesfully figured out where to stick a q-tip or something with a dab of sealant.   I have a motor on my engine stand at the moment that is waiting on gaskets as well.

On principal, very few leaks are fixed from outside.

Pucks are under cam towers, there is no way to dab the leak, sorry :)

Kinda knew the answer.  Was looking at micro-fische drawings trying to envision a way to make the impossible happen.   Oh well, I guess I know what I'm doing Saturday now.

THat's a BEAUTIFUL bike Greenjeans!! WOW. I picked up a frame kit from a member here 754 (frank) which is Weldless... I can send you some photos if you want , you just need to do a few clean cuts and then you can access the head. I believe there are a few threads on it on the forum....

I haven't installed mine yet as my project is going way SLLOWWWER than I expected. The new arrival to the family (my little buddy) has me changing more diapers than building recently...ha-ha.

Let me know about the frame kit... it's a precision piece, a work of art.... Extremely well made.

Franks weld less frame kit does not harm the paint except for where the frame is cut.  Plus where the clamps ar moved when release the frame part.  All hidden under the tank. The clamps have tight fit which is good for stabilty.
I have had use for the kit many times since I installed it 2014. Easier to pull engine when head, cylinder and studs are off. I pulled engine alone last winter. A friend helped to lift it up to the bench. The other way easier, did it alone. I cannot praise it enough

Lift head without draining the oil..
