Neutral light when placed in Drive
« on: June 04, 2016, 11:05:47 AM »
I will start off by apologizing for my lack of mechanical experience, I am only starting out. So far my biggest accomplishment is resurrecting the front brake system from a gelatine state, no idea brake fluid could get like that.

So I decided to "upgrade" from my 76A, to a 77A with pretty chrome and not bad re-paint. Long story short, big mistake!!!
One of the many issues I am having is when I put the bike in Drive, the indicator light for Neutral turns on. Neutral and Low work fine, it's just the Drive.
Could it be the "Change Switch" (35752-393-013) that I've seen referenced, also, how in the world do I get to it?

Side note, there are some electrical issues:
Had to ground the break light to the park switch (35360-393-772) otherwise I kept blowing the main fuse when I'd hit the brake pedal.
Also, park switch (35360-393-772) has one of the wires broken off of it.
Park break components are missing, therefore/and Park light is always on as well.

Hoping on this thread. Have the same issues in my '77. The N light stays on when in both L & D. Was also told it to be the change switch, but not too sure on where to find it or what to do with it.

"Change Switch" (35752-393-013) and "Change relay" (38320-393-771) together works on L-D-N lights and prevents starting in gear.

The gear sensor mounts to the Gear shift housing.  it's the black circle with the two metal leads on the far right with the oval mounting flange wiring routes through the back of the housing.
