Topic: Painting in cold,humid weather?

   Getting everything together to build my motor took longer than anticipated. It is now past the time of year where 70 degree, dry days are possible and I still need to paint my cases and covers.

   I've got a couple space heaters so I can warm up the parts and garage before painting but am wondering if there's any tips or tricks to help combat the humidity, or if just painting on a day when it's not overcast/raining is good enough. 

   I'm using rattle can paint.

I just painted some of my parts like that. I would keep the paint and the part in the house until you are ready to spray it. Spray them outside, then bring them in the house to dry. My parts turned out fine.

Well as long as it's not too cold or humid. By your standards our English summers are probably cold and humid and I don't have nay probs - middle of winter probably a bit different. You could put loads of old newspapers down and do it all in the house... though I think your heated garage should be fine..

Thanks for the replies guys   I'm going to let the cases and paint sleep in the house tonight and take them out for a good slathering of paint tomorrow. Hope to prep all the covers for painting by next weekend.

   Being so near the ocean(Pacific) brings a lot of moisture between sundown and early morning, but sounds like if I try and get all the painting done between 11am-2pm I should be OK. Just trying to avoid runs, drips and "orange peel" finish.

Sean mid-day is a good time to paint out in the sun.

if your using spray cans?  spray paint?

hold the can under hot water for a Minute or two

the hot water atomizes the paint

so you get even, smooth flow plus it will flash over quicker between coats...

also you can hold a hairdryer n the part you are painting for a Minute this helps to
