Cb750 front brake issues
« on: June 07, 2016, 05:58:35 PM »
My front brake is rubbing pretty consistently, anyone know how to fix that?

I took it off, and C-clamped the piston back in, but it still is rubbing again the caliper. I haven't done anything to the brakes, so I'm not super familiar with the system, but it was working immediately before I rebuilt the front forks, which makes me think I'm just rusty with the brakes, or I did something wrong.

Thanks

Sounds like the caliper could use a cleaning and new seal. The seal is only a few bucks from Honda. Do the caliper and if it still does it then do the master. I always do both at the same time though. Another thing to check is the very small return hole in the bottom of the master. Take the cap off the master and look to the bottom. You will see a large hole and a very small hole. Sometimes that small hole gets closed with crud and will cause problems. It is so small even a needle will not go through. I use a single strand of a wire brush to clear it.

Did you mount the front fender brace correctly on the brake side? The upper caliper mount should be against the fork lower; if the brace is between the caliper mount and the fork lower, it will cock the caliper out of alignment with the rotor.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

The fender brace is on the wrong side of the caliper mount.
