I know it's easy for me to say, but what were you looking for him to do? Just keep his line as you went by, or move to the right as you approached? Either way, you passed while expecting him to do one thing and he did something else. Maybe a toot of your horn and wait for him to acknowledge you, or wait to pass until you are sure of what he's going to do?

I guess I was expecting him to stay straight or move right. last thing I was expecting was left.  typically you pass on the left.  but yes, I agree with you should have waiting longer for his reaction.

I got zero respect from motorists (and a few pedestrians) when I used to bicycle commute. 

One of the few times I did ride side by side down a road with another cyclist.  A man on a big ol cruiser motorcycle began to yell at us.
Four lane road, we too up too much of it for his taste.  Kindly suggested we "use the #$%*ing bike lane" - seemed he didn't know "south seattle bike lane" is synonymous with "broken glass collector"

Either way, my experience with bicycling in a metro area led me to the conclusion; if your ride only has two wheels, you're gonna get #$%*ed around by someone with an attitude.

So when I came up on a man riding his (rather beatiful) 07 Orbea Orca down the middle of a country road, I waited for him to move right.
When he didn't, i cruised up next to him, opened the visor, shouted "nice bike", waved, and continued on my way.

Good man! I can't say that would be me riding an Orbea but it could've been one of my buds. Although most of will get out of the way. On the other side of it there are lot's of entitled bicycle riders in the Seattle area, that go way past sharing the road, they act like they F'ing own it! Gives the rest of cyclists a bad name. I guess it's the same for motos too.

Dunno. Had to tell from the video, but wonder if the driver had a point: is the cyclist not using the designated travel lane? They both seem rather "mental" to me, but hey, I'm from the chilled-out South. We just honk and pilot our pick ups along with a friendly wave. Deer strapped across the hood and all...

My beef with cyclist - and I am one too - is they do not folow rules. They behave like they are excempt from everything.  I seen a moron on a bicycle negotiate crossing at route 29 in NoVa while cars had red light or orange light. He made it accross safely, but it sure was hazardous riding.

If you ride on the road, behave like a vehicle not like you own the road.

Well, I don't think that's from the South either, but I sure didn't see any hateful treatment or wreck less driving by what I can only assume is a BSA rider (judging from the smoke) streaking past the cyclists.

You do realize that was intentional and (near) perfectly timed. Right? I get that it's not an illegal offence to be a total Dick, but come on. What's also interesting is that this Redneck thought it worthy to record and posted to YouTube.

That's being a total ass, no way I'd ever defend that guy.  Suckin' diesel fumes just isn't my idea of fun or healthy, way to ruin the great outdoors jerk.

Does Dodge design their trucks to be as loud as humanly possible - they're ALL obnoxiously loud.

Cal, yes the driver was doing it intentionally.  Just google "rollin' coal".  Have had it done to me while on my motorcycle.  It sucks.  I work on Cummins engines everyday for money and hate every last one of them.

 I had just rebuilt the brakes on my cheapo 79 goldwing, on the test ride a kid on a bicycle blew a stop sign and rode right into my path, as I turned,  he did too but stayed in my path. Like he had target fixation on the front of my bike. I finally locked the rear wheel to wake him the F' up and he turned away just before it was too late. Dipstick must not have had any brakes at all.

I must say, up until this very day, I would have 100% agreed. Regrettably, I believe there is a Hipster in the universe who will ride his motorcycle to Court Appointed Psychiatric treatment in the very near future. And he might just do so while speeding along at 80MPH in 2nd gear...
