Height of reserve tube?
« on: June 08, 2016, 07:22:17 PM »
I just rebuilt my '80 CB650 and replaced the center tube of my petcock for a newer one. My question is...How long should the center tube be to allow for enough reserve fuel. I have to switch to reserve after only 65 miles.

How much difference from the old to new one? Just take a little off at a time until you get what you want.

I just measured the tubes on 2 CB650 petcocks I have (80 and 81) one was 1 15/16 inches the other was 2 inches. This measurement was from the top of the nut to the top of the tube.
I have a petcock missing the tube, where did you find a replacement?

I have a box with junk petcocks and parts. I found one that looked newer, but didn't realize that the length might be longer till I road the bike and had the switch to reserve at only 65 miles. Thanks for the measurement.
